Any former employee from the DuBois Hotel willing or able to confirm for me the story of the hotel's closing in October '08?  When I called to find out what was going on then, the sales manager told me the hotel was having water line problems and had to close for construction/repairs.  With the most recent closing in January '09 and when I started digging into the "management" of the hotel by the Kronos owners I grew suspicious about the "water line repairs" excuse I got in October.  Any truth to the rumor I heard that the hotel owed a $9000 water bill and that was the real water line problem they were having?

Its true, the hotel has been closed since January 9 and now not only is the water shut off due to non payment, the gas, and electric are also shut off.
Such a nice building going to hell fast.

Just wondering how many of the hotels that Kronos had are still open. Are the ones the bank took back still open.

Thru the grapevine, rumor has it that the 'Du Bois Hotel' hopes to reopen on Monday, August 31, 2009. Supposedly some management company has taken on the property and intends to bring it back to life! There was an ad in this weeks local paper that they are accepting applications for all positions. According to one source, the main position is 'bent over'. I'm not sure if the former employees are returning by the droves, but I know this one is NOT! But there has been work done on the property and the sign out front says "Re-opening Soon. Watch for details."  After being closed for over 7 months I imagine it will not be an easy undertaking to reopen, especially after the end of peak season.  I just hope that it will not be another degradation to a once proud and successful establishment.

The hotel in DuBois is being managed by ROHM Hotels management company.  A Ketan Patel is the contact for the management company.  I dont know if ROHM Hotels has been hired by the bank to oversee the hotel or if it is another shell for Kronos.

Just an update that the DuBois property did not reopen on Aug. 31st as they supposedly had planned.  Drove by it this weekend and it still was closed.

The DuBois, PA property is currently up and running.  I have no other details at this time, including a new phone number for the property.  Not sure how they expect to get business to a no name hotel, with no advertising except their marquee, and no posted phone number to be found.

Hotel is now listed on the Choice Hotels website as a Clarion.

The Clarion sign, from the last time the hotel was a Clarion, is still covered over. However they have been lighting the sign at night and you can see the Clarion thru the cover.  It does look like business is picking up as I've noticed more cars in the parking lot when I've gone by.  I hear that they have leased out the Restaurant and Bar and understand there was an ad in the paper for wait staff & kitchen. I do not know if they have opened them yet. That is one thing about that property; it is almost like it has its own life and it's not going to die.
